Attractions in Chemnitz Germany

If you travel to Germany, you may want to go off the beaten path, find the road less traveled and linger a while in a classic German city. Chemnitz Germany is such a pace. There are a number of historic sites and buildings in Chemnitz Germany, including Castle Hill where you will find Castle Church and the Schlossberg Museum. Castle Church, known by the locals as Schlosskirche, is a late period Gothic church founded in the mid-1100s and originally used as an abbey for Benedictine monks. Impressive wall paintings including a Witten work called ‘Scourging of Christ’. The Chemnitz Germany Schlossberg Museum contains historical displays and information to give you a full history of the area. The Roter Turm (Red Tower) is one of the foundations of Chemnitz during the pre-war years. The lower portion of Roter Turm dates back to the twelfth century. You can linger in the gardens and explore the various sculptures that grace the grounds.  

Chemnitz hotels include large, grand hotels near the center of the city and smaller, less expensive hotels, all near attractions like the Augustenborg Palace and other sites.
